After spending a week in San Antonio, we started the drive to Phoenix in Arizona. It was about a 14 hour drive. It was too long to drive in one sitting so about halfway there we went to El Paso and stayed in a hotel (still in Texas, but along the border of Mexico). Then we drove through New Mexico and ended up in Phoenix, where we had dinner and went to sleep in our new home. We are still there now.
Some time into the first week of our visit we went to Usery Mountain Nature Center where we learned about owls. We also had to dissect a owl pellet which had rodent bones in it. A little far away from that we went to Usery Mountain itself, which was a mountain with many trails there. We did the windy cave trail (only 1.3 miles) and it was really hot. We drank almost all of our water and at the top we saw a water fountain from far away activate. We're still at Phoenix and I can't wait to see where we go next.
