Family Dislikes

Earlier today (and a few days ago), I noticed my brother taking surveys on our families likes and dislikes. I knew I couldn't copy him, so I decided to do the opposite. The first one I interviewed was my mother, who dislikes sand/crumbs in the bed, brothers who fight, and scorched pots and pans, among other things. My youngest brother Aaron says he dislikes school (some of the time), his brother Brandon ("sometimes"), and he's not sure about the rest.

     When I tried to ask my other brother Brandon about his dislikes, he simply said "I don't know." He stopped answering when I tried to ask him again. Later, he told me "small hotels/motels" however. However, my father made up for Brandon's lack of dislikes. The list includes but is not limited to:
  • brussel sprouts
  • crustaceans ("aka 'bugs of the sea'")
  • not understanding something
  • the taste of coffee (I don't mind the smell)
  • smoking
  • bad pets and bad pet owners
  • things that are too expensive
  • apple products
  • sucralose
  • aspertame
  • too many rules
  • slow internet
  • the loss of couch co-op as a standard
I noticed some similarities between our family. Almost our whole family dislikes smoking, and most of us dislike very slow internet. I guess that makes sense, considering we're all related.

Sedona and the Chapel of the Holy Cross

On the way to the Grand Canyon we had to pass through Sedona, and while we were there, we went to the Chapel of the Holy Cross. Sedona looks very different from the rest of Arizona. The very red rocks and all of the mountains makes it look beautiful compared to Phoenix or somewhere else in Arizona. Since it was on the way, we decided to go to the Chapel of the Holy Cross.      We parked a little ways away from the chapel, as the parking lots were filled and a walk would do us some good. When we got in, we heard some music playing and saw a lot of candles. You could light a candle in memory of a loved one for a few dollars. Near the front, you could look out a window overlooking Sedona. There is also a plaque showing how the place was built. It's a small place, but it's still an important one.

Lake Pleasant

A few weeks ago (as of writing) in Phoenix, we went to Lake Pleasant. We first took a small ride on a boat to a restaurant (as the bridge was broken). After that, we returned and saw the site for what is intended to be the largest water slide in the world (it is still under construction however). After that, we drove right up to where the lake was so we could unload the kayaks. The road actually went into the water, so there must be more water than there was the first time the road was built. So we unloaded the kayaks there and got them into the water. There were two islands, and we decided to paddle to the second. There was actually a  geocache  there, but we didn't have the stuff we normally brought. We still signed the log though, as there was a pencil. While my brothers went to the same island, I tried to skipped rocks (I didn't do very good, but I skipped some). Shortly after they returned we packed up the kayaks and went home. Lake Pleasant was a pleasant lake.

San Antonio

     Before we went to Arizona but after we moved out of Galveston, we went to San Antonio (also in Texas). At San Antonio we went to the Alamo, the Natural Bridge Caverns, and the River Walk. The Battle of the Alamo was a battle that lasted for 13 days and took place in the Alamo Mission. Among the casualties was David Crockett and James Bowie (the person the Bowie knife was named after), who died defending the mission. The Alamo Mission where the Battle of the Alamo took place. The River Walk (also known as Paseo del Rio) is a lot of walkways along a river also in San Antonio. It's actually near the Alamo Mission. Along the River Walk is a bunch of stores and a tour allows you to sail on the river of the River Walk. The Natural Bridge Caverns are one of the largest caverns in Texas. It hosts some tours of the caverns and also has a lot of fried eggs (some kind of rock formation).
